Dr. Leong has a joint clinical and research appointment at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital and The University of Queensland where he conducts clinical and basic research into child obesity and metabolism.
He has memberships of several national and international paediatric endocrine and research societies and is presently Deputy-Chair of the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group Growth Hormone Advisory Committee, which helps the Federal Department of Health by providing expert advice on children with short stature treated with growth hormone therapy.
Dr.Leong is a UQ Expert and a member of the NHMRC Research Translation Faculty
Dr. Leong sees infants, children and adolescents into young adulthood with disorders of growth and puberty, including:
- short stature
- early and delayed puberty
- thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism)
- disorders of the pituitary gland
- lifestyle disorders such as child and adolescent obesity, insulin resistance and pre-type 2 diabetes.
